Luxembourg delegation lands for NATO meeting with Depeche Mode plane

There is an explanation for this interesting decision

The Luxembourg government delegation arrived for the NATO summit in Vilnius on a plane belonging to the new wave band Depeche Mode, RTL Today reports. There is an explanation for this interesting choice of aircraft.

Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Jean Asselborn and Defense Minister Francois Bauch were photographed stepping out of the unusual-looking plane after arriving in Vilnius for Tuesday's NATO summit. Right next to the cockpit of the plane is a red skull with four letters: DM-MM. The meaning of those letters is: Depeche Mode and Memento Mori - that's the name of the band's new album.

The band has been using Global Reach Aviation's plane since March 2023 and has already traveled from Sacramento to New York and Bordeaux. DM plans to play a total of 78 shows by December 17 this year.

If you think Bethel, Asselborn and Bausch are ready to tour and perform with Depeche Mode, you're wrong, RTL jokes. The NATO envoys in Luxembourg did indeed board the band's plane, but for logistical reasons. For the trip to Lithuania, the army was forced to rent a plane through the European Air Transport Command (EATC), as most of the normally available military aircraft were already in use because of the summit.
